The Resort Celebration
At least to make up for it, the food that's being prepared on the open grills and that's set out is very good. There is likely something to everyone's tastes here. The drinks range from refreshing to the most smooth intoxicating beverages you can imagine.
It's well lit, with strings of light (not lights, but lit string) that resemble webbing. Though everything will be turned down when the eclipse is at its height and the stars will be at their brightest.

[Well, that's not quite right. He's not useless because he's standing there doing both his jobs. He's watching to make sure no one starts a ruckus, keenly aware of the blaster nestled in his suit jacket, and chatting up the ambassadors. Neither of which are a far cry from home, so he fits right in.]
[He taps his hand against his mouth and yawns finally, sort of just waiting it out until the big moment. Coffee's apparently not doing the best job but he's being a pro and hanging in there.]
no subject
Still, if it is terrorists, a celebration like this would be a perfect target. The thought has him paranoid and on edge and he gives each ambassador an assessing gaze in turn, wondering if any of them might be in on it. He sees nothing.
But if an attack does happen, he decides that wants to be near someone well-armed when it happens. Therefore, he sidles up to Kay.]
Is everything secure?
no subject
[That's all he says to start out with, holding his coffee and watching people mill around the gardens. Nothing bad has happened so far, so it's sort of a boring, bland regard.]
Enjoying yourself?

So: Here is a pink-cheeked Braska, still wearing a spider hat, offering Una a cheerful and slightly over-energetic little wave.] Ah! Miss Persson! Hello!

Hello, Braska. Enjoying yourself?

Which is how he's come to find himself standing at a window next to Lindir's. Braska glances over at his accidental neighbor, looking a bit worn out, but still smiling.]

So it was with a smile that she sought him out, eventually making her way to his room where she knocked on his door. ]

But a thought struck him earlier, after he danced with a little alien girl. She wore a pink dress and the blue beads in her tentacle-hair clinked cheerfully as she ran away to rejoin her parents. He thought: Did Yuna dance like this when he brought the Calm? All of Spira was celebrating that night, he's sure of it. Maybe, the party in Bevelle looked not unlike this one. Fireworks and parades, like Jecht wanted.
Braska laughs quietly into the fluted glass in his hand. He wonders... if Jecht would have stayed true to his pledge, or if he would have indulged in alcohol for the celebration, too, if they could have been there for it. Would Auron have smiled and laughed like the men across the room from Braska? Would the relief of the Calm have made him this happy, too...?
... these are the kinds of thoughts that are ruining the mood. They're the ones he's having trouble keeping down. They're the reason why he's allowing himself to become a feature of the celebration. He can't quite bring himself to leave, because, if he did... The thoughts might consume him whole, then.]

[After his conversation with Kay, Narvin is attempting (with mixed success) to look at people with a little less suspicion. He still isn't sure about Braska--he is a priest after all, and Narvin's never sure about those--but he's probably not a terrorist, and that's something.]
What do you make of the celebrations?
no subject
Once he's pleased with the tuning, he makes himself comfortable and begins to play a slow, relaxing tune loud enough to be heard by everyone near him but not so much as to drown out their conversation.
As he finishes one song, he realizes that some of the guests might want to give him some change for his music, so he removes his hat and lays it beside him, continuing onto another song and humming along.]
no subject
It just so happens he had been keeping an eye on a particular group of drunks when he stops by Wander, standing there with his arms crossed as he watched the from a distance. It might look like he stopped to listen to the tunes (and he does still have a little bit of taste for music), but really, he's working.]
no subject
Wander shifts his playing to a series of simple chords before talking as not to interrupt the music.]
Evenin', sir. How's your patrollin' goin'?

Her attention was dedicated more to the food and drink and the anticipation of the eclipse. She will never get over the joy of gazing upon the stars of another world and wondering just where Arda is in the grand scheme of the skies above. ]
no subject
Can you see your solar system's primary star?
no subject
It's out that way. It's a small... complicated system. What about you? can you see your star?
[She glanced to Narvin reluctantly, but nevertheless, curiously.]

[He sees Charon doing his job, as Charon always does his job, dryly meandering about.]
[He doesn't want to distract him too much, so he comes up to him.] So uh... When do you get off work? [Shit. It's always weird starting conversation with Charon. He likes getting him on the subject of guns when he can, strange things in the Wasteland that's not the Mohave, but getting that opening to talk in is always like trying to ask a girl that knows she's too good for you on a date.]
