The blue one? I have not yet had a chance to try that. Lets both try it! Most cocktails I hear are sweet tasting.

[Trying new things was often difficult for Lindir, but he also worked closely with the kitchens in Imladris. Surely food and drink would be a good place to start?]

If you will try it with me, perhaps we can start there...

[He still sounded a bit nervous, but he was obviously making an effort.]

Okay two... Romulan Ales... it is?

[She flagged down the bartender with her card and then leaned against the bar, looking over the menu for the next drink already.]

the next one I want to try is a ... Jade Isle. Sounds tropical.

[As she had never been anywhere tropical, it was something she wanted a taste of. ]

[Lindir makes sure that the bartender knows he would pay for his own drink, then looks at her from the side.]

Will you not finish your first before thinking of another?

You need not worry, I'll only order it when I am done with this... ale. However you should not be afraid to relax and try other things!

[Before Lindir can say anything further, two tall glasses of something blue appear before them. He takes his, but doesn't drink it yet, instead he just smells it, then holds it up to the light and wonders at the color.]

[Tauriel eyes the drinks skeptically and then shrugs just a little as she takes her glass and then sips it from the straw. At first her expression is skeptical but it quickly changes to surprise as she sips.

Mm, this isn't actually bad... not what I would expect but i tastes a little like how I would imagine blue to taste.

You have imagined what blue would taste like before?

[He sighs, wondering for a moment why he was here, again. Then finally, he takes a sip.]

Strange... but not unpleasant.

have you not? I always imagine the elves of Imladris would be more poetic than your Silvan kin.

[She took another sip, grinning a little.]

[He straightens up at that.]

We keep well the songs and verses of our history, and delight in soft music.

[Lindir just doesn't get very imaginative himself, really.]

But there are those in Imladris who yet keep things fresh with new ideas. The sons of Elrond not the least among them.

[Almost defensively, he takes a longer sip than he might have previously.]

[She had heard of the twins and the trouble they got into. Their exploits had even inspired a prank or two of her own while she was younger. She smiles ruefully at him.]

I expect you suffered long at their hands. Is that one of the reasons Lord Elrond sent you on this retreat?

[Innocently, she sips her drink again, perhaps drinking it a bit fast, but as s it did not have a strong alcoholic taste, she wasn't really paying attention.]

They were not easy children, but their childhood has long since passed. Even so, something of those children remain with them, though not quite so... strong.

[Lindir sighs.]

I can not know for certain all of what My Lord Elrond's reasons were for sending me. He told me that he thought I needed rest, and some time away from the valley. I know a temporary relief from my duties seems wise, but I feel rest can better be found near the rivers and waterfalls of my home.

[She eyes him and then his drink and makes a gesture for him to drink more. He obviously was going too slow.]

Who can fathom the wisdom of our lords? Perhaps he thought having you experience life outside of Middle Earth might be of a benefit to you? Are you at least finding some of your stay enjoyable?

[He unconsciously takes another few sips of his drink at her urging, but his mind was more on the conversation. He looks thoughtful at the comment.]

The gardens bring some light to my heart, strange as they are. Colorful things please me...

[At that he looks down at his glass.]

Though I had never before consumed food or drink of such bright colors.

[Almost as if testing it once more, he takes another sip with a look of concentration. It's about 2/3rds gone now.]

Have you watched the moving pictures yet? Using the tablet or the wall viewer? [She meant TV, but so many words were interchangeable.] The images upon it are quite beautiful at times. And there is so much information to be had if you are inclined to learn.

There is a juice you should try that is quite good as well. It is called orange juice and apparently the color is the same as the fruit for which it is named! It is non alcoholic.

[Tauriel at least is approving of his drinking more now. Still her drink is almost gone at this point and she is all but ready to order another.]

Moving pictures? Perhaps. When I use this...

[He pulls out his tablet.]

...there are some pictures that move when you touch them, but I still do not understand completely. I have very little control over what it shows me.

[When did his glass become empty?]

[She laughed a little, starting to feel just a touch of the alcohol hitting her system. It wasn't enough to even call tipsy, but it made her amused as she leaned over and tapped his tablet.]

Yes that can show moving pictures, but so can the display on your wall in the hotel room.

[She paused to look at his tablet, wondering if it was defective as Lindir seemed to continue having problems with it.]

You haven't been accidentally hitting the off button have you?

[Lindir holds up the tablet and demonstrates how he uses it. It looks like he just keeps hitting the wrong things or sliding the wrong way.]

But it's no matter, my preference is to see things with my own eyes.

[With an empty glass, Lindir mulls over the thought of getting another, then decides that since the first had done no harm, neither could a second...]

[Tauriel lets him order the next round and then the round she picks up after that. This goes on for quite some time until both of them are far beyond the slightly tipsy and well and truly on their way to getting blasted.

She of course is a happy go lucky drunk and is even more happy and go lucky and three times more impulsive. Once already she had pried herself away from the bar to start dancing as she had seen people do in a music video. Thankfully this was rather tame dancing but it was starting to attract the attention of other patrons who would be more than happy to dance with the Elf. After having to send away one too many people interested in her, she collapsed against Lindir and tilted her head towards the door]

I think we should depart, yeah?

[By now Lindir is fighting back tears. Left alone with his drink while Tauriel danced, he thought fondly of Imladris, and wondering how he came to be in this situation.]

Y-yes. I wish to return...

[He wished to return to Imladris, and not just the resort, though, and the thought causes the tears to spill over into his nearly empty glass. He put it on the counter and wipes his eyes with his sleeve.]

[Seeing him cry caused her to come back to the bar.]

Mellon nin nothing keeps you here... if you wish to go you can.

[She is thinking the resort because why wouldn't he be able to go to Imladris if he wanted to?]

[He shakes his head sadly.]

I cannot. My Lord Elrond has asked me to be here and so I must. He will send word when he wishes for me to return...

[Oh, he meant the resort in general and not just the bar.]

Come, surely we can cheer you up so you are not as home sick, yes? Would you like to see some place happy maybe?

[Lindir nods a little with his eyes downcast, like an unhappy child.]

...A distraction may be best.

Well then shall we explore the town... and perhaps see what it is our there for us to explore. Maybe we will come across another garden or something equally entertaining.

[She stands and offers her hand to Lindir. As she is well on her way to being drunk, her speech is not exactly sparkling at this point.]
