[He sees Charon doing his job, as Charon always does his job, dryly meandering about.]
[He doesn't want to distract him too much, so he comes up to him.] So uh... When do you get off work? [Shit. It's always weird starting conversation with Charon. He likes getting him on the subject of guns when he can, strange things in the Wasteland that's not the Mohave, but getting that opening to talk in is always like trying to ask a girl that knows she's too good for you on a date.]

So when Niko approaches him, he gets once glance before he's back scanning the surrounding area along with a grumble. He doesn't really think about when he's going to get off work. There's no need.]
When I'm done here.
[Not a helpful answer at all, but really...he doesn't know when he'll be done. Even after the celebrations are over there's still patrolling to be done. Maybe when he gets hungry. But he'd honestly go right back to work after.]

I uh... well when you are, I wanted to ask you something about your gun.

His eyes shoot in his direction briefly.]
What about my gun?

I uh... [Yes, give a member of patrol a gun, Niko. This will work out well for you ] future. ] I found one when I was in the caves, it seems like it's in better shape. I was going to keep it, but I have plenty and I thought you could try it out and see how it works for you.

But still, they're talking about guns and he's talking about one that's possibly in better condition than his own. Truth be told, he's been through a lot with his shotgun, and while he's not a sentimental person, sometimes he wonders if at one point he was, because he could never bring himself to get rid of his shotgun for reasons he's not really aware of.
That didn't mean he wasn't interested.]
What kind of gun is it?

[For as funny as Charon was when he first met him (funny in the way that there's this giant man wandering around speaking bluntly with a perpetual frown), every time Niko sees him he looks more and more like a man that's had bits of his true personality flecked away. Like a physical representation of how Niko feels and half doesn't want to feel, and half just wants to give into and embrace.]
[That part of him that doesn't want to feel like that looks at Charon's gun, which is as old and beaten as him, and wants to give him something new. And if one day it's pointed at him? At least in Charon's hands he would be sure he deserves it.]
[But that requires too much self-awareness to put into words, and is too odd to say to a sturdy zombie person with a dead stare.]
It's a rife. Baretta. Handles pretty good. 40 caliber.
[He makes a somewhat helpless gesture with the hand that's not holding a drink.] If you're into that sort of thing. Sometimes you just want to use what works.
