Smiley's expression cleared in comprehension, even if in the back of his mind he recognised the name Jeeves.

"How fortunate to have such a learned man in your employ," he said politely. "I'm afraid that philosophy is not my specialty, however—" he was still holding a volume of Schiller in his hand, and indicated it by way of explanation, "so I can only make the most general sorts of suggestions."

"A poet?! Y'mean a lotta people getta read his writin'? I'm a bit of an artist myself, although I mostly just play the banjo.. but I'd love to meet 'im!"

He should remember to bring his banjo when they go out for tea. This poor human who probably never drank tea in his life was looking forward to that, right? He assumed that "corking" meant something good.

Wander's smile lessened when Bertie asked about another person. "Oh, right. There's no one else stayin' here with me, but most of the other times I travel 'round the galaxy with m'best friend. Shame that Syl couldn't make it."

Tauriel had been taking a walk in the gardens to try and make herself feel better since she was still getting over a bout of the Neural flu. She had her tinfoil hat on as required, even if the ting made her head feel hot and uncomfortable. She was not expecting anyone to be in the gardens, not with the weather threatening to turn like it was, so she was surprised to see someone else walking the opposite way down the path.

[So... pissed off alien. Not much he can do there. He has a feeling shooting it would only cause more trouble, especially if it's over a misunderstanding with a woman. He looks through the peephole, sees nothing, and heads back to his chair with a grunt.]

Better hope he doesn't remember you if you run into him again.

[Otherwise, this guy is gonna be doing a lot of running and hiding.]

Might wanna figure out how you're supposed to say no to those things, too.

[Preferably without offending them.]

Rocky sounded like a wonderful fellow, going out of his way to help others even if it meant a few personal sacrifices, something Wander could relate to. There was no doubt that they would make excellent friends!

Not as excellent, of course, as the relationship he had with his own best friend. "Actually, her name's Sylvia; Syl's just a nickname I call her. Usually I'd introduce y'all to each other but..." he shrugged and gave a small smile. "She' no valet, though, 'cept for the part where she carries me 'round everywhere, but that's no surprise considerin' she's a Zbornak. We're just real good friends that travel the galaxy together."

He glanced over to the water boiler and slid off the stool to prepare Bertie's tea. They said that he didn't have stay here for a long time, so Sylvia wouldn't get too lonely, he hoped. Still, Wander couldn't help but miss her a little.

Smiley peered up at the affable face, wondering if this man could possibly be as colossal a booby as he appeared. Years of circulating amongst Ann's various extended relations, to say nothing of his long career at the Circus, had taught him to never underestimate the vast stupidity of which the aristocracy was capable, but this lesson was always balanced with his innate distrust of others, and the awareness that stupidity could always be an act.

"Very well. Perhaps your man would be interested in Leibniz?" He turned toward the shelf he had been rearranging and his gaze lighted upon a rather foxed copy of the Confessio philosophi, which he carefully extracted and offered to Wooster. "A contemporary of Spinoza's."

At once she is worried about him catching Neural flu even at the slightest tipping of his hat. Before she could voice any such concern however, he had the hat back on. She let out a breath and tried her best to smile, though his greeting was strange to her. Elven greetings sounded strange when translated out of her native tongue, but as she had nothing else to greet him by, it was what she defaulted to. She placed her hand over her heart and inclined her head towards him, trying to be as regal as possible.

"A star shines on the hour of our meeting."

Yes it sounded random, even to her.

"Is the sun not a star?" She had been watching educational videos while trapped more or less in her room while she fought off the Neural flu.

"Servant?! What?" Wander did his best to hide the hint of insult on his face. "No, I can never think of my best pal like that, and besides, Sylvia'd never accept bein' one!" How does he not know what a Zbornak even was? They're not an uncommon species in Wander's galaxy, and even people that never met one knew what they were.

Did...they not have those on any planets in the system Bertie was from?

"Pardon my bluntness," he carefully placed a tea bag into the cup, "but what kinda aliens you familiar with?"

"That would be a correct assumption. I guess then my greeting is not as silly as I thought it was." She grins a little, feeling a bit better for it.

"Oooooooh..." Well, that explained it. "Seems like Jeeves 'n Sylvia are pretty different in that regard."

Wander never heard of any of any of those species Bertie mentioned, though. The possibility that he lived in another galaxy seemed more likely if they were familiar with different species.

He poured the hot water into Bertie's cup and set it beside him on the dresser, then placed the sugar packs right next to it and gave it a small pat.

"Never heard of the French and...the other ones. What're they like?"

I've never found it all that difficult.

[He tilts his head with a clueless look at that, though. He has no idea what he's talking about now.]

The act of a what?

[Preux...? Jeez, it's almost like talking to Arcade.]

"Those people sound really interestin'!" The French sounded the most fun to be with, but he wouldn't mind visiting the Swede king as well. He'd have to ask where their home planets are, but he was sure they were in the vicinity of America.

"But, what I was tryin' to get at is what they actually look like. Y'know, like how I look different from you? I've traveled to lotsa places but I never met those kinda aliens."

"To those who understand it, it can be quite enthralling." It was not exactly a veiled insult, but it was intended to get some measure of the man by his response. "What of your own tastes, Mr—Wooster, was it?"
