[Since their conversation at his arrival, Tauriel had been planning something in the back of her mind, but had not yet been able to implement it. Tonight, with the celebration of the eclipse happening, she thought that it would serve as the perfect time to help Lindir learn to relax a little.

So it was with a smile that she sought him out, eventually making her way to his room where she knocked on his door. ]

Lindir! Are you there?

I am, indeed.

[He was not expecting the other Elf, but her presence was not unwelcome. He opens the door for her.]

What brings you here, Tauriel?

As this is a time of celebration, I think it only appropriate you should be out celebrating and I thought you might find it intimidating to do so on your own, so I am here to take you with me! Think of this as the Feast of Starlight back home and come have a drink with me.

[She already had been drinking a little. Not much, but enough to get her to relax after being on patrol for the last few days.]

[He's a little embarrassed about her pointing out one of his shortcomings, but says nothing, because it was the truth.]

The Feast of Starlight that we celebrate in the valley is a much quieter affair.

[He looks thoughtful, though, as he considers her offer.]

...Perhaps only for a short time, if you will welcome my company.

[Yes well she has a way of doing that it seems, saying things that others do not always like to hear.]

I would not pursue it otherwise! In The woodland Realm there is much drinking and feasting. King Thranduil throws a large gathering for his people to come and enjoy the festivities. I would like to have someone to celebrate with as I do not trust many people here. A few are too liberal with their affections.

[Meaning she did not want to risk getting drunk and ending up with the most embarrassing one night stand marriage ever.]

I promise it will only be a few drinks. I know an excellent bar that serves both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks!

'Liberal with their affections?'

[He frowns. That did not sit well with Lindir at all, and suddenly he felt a protective sort of obligation.]

Very well, I see no reason why I must say in this night.

[Lindir looks down at himself and straightens out his long tunic.]

Shall we go, then?

[She smiles and gestures towards the door, inclining her head. She was dressed more or less in her long, velvet tunic and pants and had a dagger strapped to her hip so she at least was armed should they come across any trouble.]

I'm glad you're willing to go out! this world has much to offer, and while I am not fond of the spiders being used in celebration, I cannot help but feel in a festive mood.

[She led him thorough the resort and out into the street where they walked out towards the bar that she had heard about but not yet visited, that being The Rising Sun. She figured that the bar sounded like it would be just right for introducing Lindir to drinking as the tourists of this world liked to do. ]

I have not been here before, so I cannot vouch for how good it is, but I think we will find this place enjoyable.

[The bar itself was rather busy what with the festival swelling the tourist population at the moment.]

The choice of spiders as decorations does seem an odd one.

[Lindir locks up he leaves, and walks with her. The way over was simple enough. As long as they didn't linger in a loud area for very long, he was comfortable walking through. It was a busy place, it seemed, no doubt due to the festival, but Lindir had said he would accompany her, and so he would do so.]

It is strange for me to seek entertainment, as I am usually the one in charge of providing it.

I understand it a little bit I think? Apparently the spiders were the protectors of the people here before they vanished. So in a way they are honored.

[She shrugs a little unsure. The choice of spiders as celebratory creatures are beyond her. She much rather just kill them.]

Well are you not doing as Lord Elrond commanded, seeking out a way to relax? Enjoying the local culture I am sure would be high on his list.

[She gestured to the bar before walking up to it. The bar was a little crowded, but not to the point that they could not get service.]

Take your time looking at drinks menu.

It is likely that is what he intends, I simply wish it were less difficult to do so.

[He takes a look at the drink list and furrows his brows.]

...Most of these are unknown to me.

hmm. What sort of flavors do you like? Some of the drinks have descriptions as to the contents of what they are made with.

I favor sweet wines...

[He flips over the list to read some of the descriptions, and gets stuck on a picture of one of the drinks.]

What a strange color. Is it truly fit for drinking?

The blue one? I have not yet had a chance to try that. Lets both try it! Most cocktails I hear are sweet tasting.

[Trying new things was often difficult for Lindir, but he also worked closely with the kitchens in Imladris. Surely food and drink would be a good place to start?]

If you will try it with me, perhaps we can start there...

[He still sounded a bit nervous, but he was obviously making an effort.]

Okay two... Romulan Ales... it is?

[She flagged down the bartender with her card and then leaned against the bar, looking over the menu for the next drink already.]

the next one I want to try is a ... Jade Isle. Sounds tropical.

[As she had never been anywhere tropical, it was something she wanted a taste of. ]

[Lindir makes sure that the bartender knows he would pay for his own drink, then looks at her from the side.]

Will you not finish your first before thinking of another?

You need not worry, I'll only order it when I am done with this... ale. However you should not be afraid to relax and try other things!

[Before Lindir can say anything further, two tall glasses of something blue appear before them. He takes his, but doesn't drink it yet, instead he just smells it, then holds it up to the light and wonders at the color.]

[Tauriel eyes the drinks skeptically and then shrugs just a little as she takes her glass and then sips it from the straw. At first her expression is skeptical but it quickly changes to surprise as she sips.

Mm, this isn't actually bad... not what I would expect but i tastes a little like how I would imagine blue to taste.

You have imagined what blue would taste like before?

[He sighs, wondering for a moment why he was here, again. Then finally, he takes a sip.]

Strange... but not unpleasant.

have you not? I always imagine the elves of Imladris would be more poetic than your Silvan kin.

[She took another sip, grinning a little.]

[He straightens up at that.]

We keep well the songs and verses of our history, and delight in soft music.

[Lindir just doesn't get very imaginative himself, really.]

But there are those in Imladris who yet keep things fresh with new ideas. The sons of Elrond not the least among them.

[Almost defensively, he takes a longer sip than he might have previously.]

[She had heard of the twins and the trouble they got into. Their exploits had even inspired a prank or two of her own while she was younger. She smiles ruefully at him.]

I expect you suffered long at their hands. Is that one of the reasons Lord Elrond sent you on this retreat?

[Innocently, she sips her drink again, perhaps drinking it a bit fast, but as s it did not have a strong alcoholic taste, she wasn't really paying attention.]

They were not easy children, but their childhood has long since passed. Even so, something of those children remain with them, though not quite so... strong.

[Lindir sighs.]

I can not know for certain all of what My Lord Elrond's reasons were for sending me. He told me that he thought I needed rest, and some time away from the valley. I know a temporary relief from my duties seems wise, but I feel rest can better be found near the rivers and waterfalls of my home.

[She eyes him and then his drink and makes a gesture for him to drink more. He obviously was going too slow.]

Who can fathom the wisdom of our lords? Perhaps he thought having you experience life outside of Middle Earth might be of a benefit to you? Are you at least finding some of your stay enjoyable?
