The Market Post
Who: Merchants and You
What: Open Market
When: M12 D14
Where: The Market
Notes & Warnings: Warnings will be in individual thread starters as players see fit. Here is the market OOC post.
The weather is starting to warm from the dead of winter, but it's still cool out. The morning in the market is foggy, too, so the warmer food is still getting a lot of attention. Soups and hot teas and cocoa (refined from the beans gathered in the planet's jungles).
After the recent efforts to clean up the town and the brief increased access to other universes, vendors there are a lot of vegetables brought in from that, too. This has been the first time in a long time there has been such a variety so take advantage of the displays. There are also people that have been trying out the potion samples here and there, doing things like attempting to set themselves on fire or inhale water. Luckily 99% of them are stopping when they're warned when their timer is running out.
There is the odd idiot that doesn't know how to hold his magic. Injuries won't be grave when they do happen, just incredibly stupid.
If anyone who helped investigate swamps wants to talk to travel agents about potential trips home, this is the chance to do it. Remember that you can also take visitors with you when the time comes around.

Very well. I will draw up a list of items I will need that I can't get myself.
Before we part though, I would like you to know I... I understand. [A small hesitation, as if she's debating finishing her thought.]
Always wishing someone back, and being stuck with the heartache that they will not. But keep in mind, [she swallows, feeling a small lump,] there is no cure for the feeling of succeeding where it was once thought impossible and yet nothing being like what you hoped. I sincerely wish that all goes well for you and will do everything I can to help.

[She glances around the market.]
Are you finished for the day? I want to ask you more.

[Emilia whistles and the abomination scurries to heel. She sets a brisk pace off down the square.]
What spell would you be trying?
no subject
[Grainne spoke softly, almost as if she were speaking to herself, following Emilia almost automatically.]
If it works, it will seek to bring everything back into focus and fit together again. Such magic is very difficult though, even a simple one. I will lay out all of the steps before we start.

[She pinches her own cheek with claw-fingers. Part of it flakes off.]

Full life... yes. I do not know what exactly will happen with him being partially alive though. It may only bring back his mind, and make him as you are.
Though, I do know spells also that only restores partial life to a body... It is less that they are supposed to work that way and more that they do not function properly.

[Emilia stops to stare.]
But you have tried the one you're proposing to use on my brother, right?
no subject
Do not mistake me, I know how important this is. Bringing back... him, is what lead me to become what I am in the first place. I would not offer lightly.

[She crosses her arms. Not going any further. Come on, you know you want to say it.]

For a second, Grainne looks sad and worried, but tries to chase the emotions that threatened to overwhelm her away.]
Someone that I thought loved me. It was my fault he died.
[Bitterness colors her voice.]
And after all my work it turned out to be pointless, in the end.

In the end he came back the same way I did and fulfilled his own wishes. He did not need me at all and when we encountered each other, I learned the truth from him.
[From the hitch in her voice and the bitterness, it must have been recently.]
no subject
Where's he now?
no subject
[She sighs.]
I swore I would not cry over him anymore, but I do not care to talk about it further.

[Emilia starts walking again, and her steps are unmistakeably sharper, like she has a grudge against the pavement.]
Have you had lunch?
no subject
[The word is unfamiliar, and Grainne takes a moment before she realizes she's being left behind. She hurries to catch up and shakes her head.]
I had something in the market, but when I eat food is all turned into prana anyway.
no subject
[Emilia doesn't slow down, but she glances sharply to the side when Grainne catches up - good.]

[She weaves her way to a cafe, where mist-creatures sip from tubes built into the wall.]
Does your rate of gain exceed your rate of decay?
no subject
When I have a master, yes. There are other ways to conserve prana or lessen the demands for it.
