The Market Post

Who: Merchants and You
What: Open Market
When: M12 D14
Where: The Market
Notes & Warnings: Warnings will be in individual thread starters as players see fit. Here is the market OOC post.

The weather is starting to warm from the dead of winter, but it's still cool out. The morning in the market is foggy, too, so the warmer food is still getting a lot of attention. Soups and hot teas and cocoa (refined from the beans gathered in the planet's jungles).

After the recent efforts to clean up the town and the brief increased access to other universes, vendors there are a lot of vegetables brought in from that, too. This has been the first time in a long time there has been such a variety so take advantage of the displays. There are also people that have been trying out the potion samples here and there, doing things like attempting to set themselves on fire or inhale water. Luckily 99% of them are stopping when they're warned when their timer is running out.

There is the odd idiot that doesn't know how to hold his magic. Injuries won't be grave when they do happen, just incredibly stupid.

If anyone who helped investigate swamps wants to talk to travel agents about potential trips home, this is the chance to do it. Remember that you can also take visitors with you when the time comes around.

Not bad. [He nods in approval and hands one of the drinks off to Boone. He uses his own coat almost like a picnic coat, just so he can put his own drink and sandwich down without setting them on the ground, and he offers to take the sledge.]

[The next spider he sees come out of the dark, he slams Boone's weapon down on. It's unwieldy, but it splats nicely.]

[He picks it up again.] These would be useful back home. I'll have to look into one. [And he gives it another shot, crushing another before returning the sledge to Boone.] Too bad the skeletons are armed, 'cause it'd probably work well on them.
thumbsdown: (could do a lot of damage. just saying.)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-13 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, not sure I wanna get that close to a skeleton.

[It really is too bad, though. The skeletons would likely fall to pieces with a single blow.]

Wouldn't really work on a creeper, either.

[Would it have a chance to explode before it got crushed? That's a risk Boone isn't willing to take.]
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - gun aim)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-13 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[He flicks out a gun with a glowing blue center and a tapered nozzle, and he watches for another spider. Waits for it. Waits for it.]

[It comes out and he shoots it. It freezes, ice-covered and in mid step.]

Probably could get close to them if I used one of those. Wanna get rid of that one.
thumbsdown: (how did you know?)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-13 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Boone approaches the spider and slams the super sledge down on it, causing it to shatter. When he comes back to Kay, he eyes the gun in his hands.]

That's a hell of a weapon.

[He wonders what else it can freeze. Would it stop a creeper from exploding?]
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - oh what's that there?)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It's an Icer. There's one version that can even thaw and revive. Here- [he hands it off to Boone, and points to bits since, well, they're alien] -that's the safety. That's what you want the charge strength to be. The ammo's not going to run out so don't worry about that. And there's no kick so just point and shoot.

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-13 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Okay.

[He waits for something to come wandering out of the trees, and this time it's a creeper. He doesn't feel like waiting for it to get close enough to explode, so he fires at it from a distance and then looks over to Kay.]

Think I could get close?

[He's never gotten up close and personal with a creeper before. He likes to take them out long before they can come close enough to blow up.]
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - glasses pocket)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah... Let's see.

[And he starts to edge up on it. Slowly. Like he wants to be able to jump back if necessary.]

[If they're going to see what happens, might as well be careful about it.]
thumbsdown: (for carla)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-16 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Boone starts slowly moving towards it, too. If Kay starts to move back again he'll assume the ice is melting or something, and move back too. He doesn't want to get blown up.]
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - the hell is wrong with you?)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-17 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Which really just ends up with them both edging up on it. Kay picks up a stick, tosses it at the ice, and it just pings off and hits the ground. That's a good sign, anyway. But when Kay gets close enough to set off the explosive sensitivity, it lights up under the ice.]

[He backs off quickly and it stops glowing.]

Well at least we got a way to stop them from waddling in at top speeds like they normally do.
thumbsdown: (let's get out of here)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-18 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn.

[He was hoping to get a better look at it. He's never been able to get a good look at one after it dies, because it disintegrates. He's tried looking through his scope, but it's not really the same.]

Yeah, guess you're right. Still. Kinda wanted to check it out.
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - fussing with his desk)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-18 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... We need better cameras for those things.

I don't get how they turn their heads all the way around like that. [It's pretty freaky, thinks the man whose seen almost everything.]
thumbsdown: (problem solver)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-21 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Beats me. Lot of things I don't get about them.

[Like how they explode.]

Wonder if we could ever catch one. Study it. Not really my thing, but I bet there's someone here who could learn a lot about them. Then we'd know what we're dealing with a little better.
most_feared: please don't use, i paid for these (k - explaining himself)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-04-22 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
I know I've been wantin' to find out more about 'em. But yeah, gettin' close has been hard as shit.

[Rough languaged as he is, Kay is the thorough and researching type. Especially when it comes to narrowly analyzing potential threats.]

Guess we're shit out of luck for now, but maybe I can put in a few orders for these. I know the MiB doesn't just hand these out, so I'd have to have 'em come in and produce a few copies.
thumbsdown: (still a murderer)

[personal profile] thumbsdown 2015-04-28 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Think you've got anything back home that might stop a creeper exploding?

[Boone can't think of anything he could bring to help with that, but now that the topic has been brought up he's pretty interested in the idea. Maybe if they can figure out how to stop a creeper from exploding immediately, he can help to capture one.]
most_feared: Please don't use. Screencaps @ http://screencap-me.livejournal.com/90245.html and http://screencap-me.livejournal.com (k - talking with someone)

[personal profile] most_feared 2015-05-01 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
There are stasis fields, but I don't know how those'd go. [He says this quite honestly.] Somehow they seem to know someone's gettin' close, even when they shouldn't.

Maybe they just sorta come at people without really thinkin' about it. They don't seem much smarter than to be able to see and sorta aim themselves at openings, whether or not they can get in.

[He tucks the Icer back in its holster, and gets out his blaster instead.]
