The Market Post
Who: Merchants and You
What: Open Market
When: M12 D14
Where: The Market
Notes & Warnings: Warnings will be in individual thread starters as players see fit. Here is the market OOC post.
The weather is starting to warm from the dead of winter, but it's still cool out. The morning in the market is foggy, too, so the warmer food is still getting a lot of attention. Soups and hot teas and cocoa (refined from the beans gathered in the planet's jungles).
After the recent efforts to clean up the town and the brief increased access to other universes, vendors there are a lot of vegetables brought in from that, too. This has been the first time in a long time there has been such a variety so take advantage of the displays. There are also people that have been trying out the potion samples here and there, doing things like attempting to set themselves on fire or inhale water. Luckily 99% of them are stopping when they're warned when their timer is running out.
There is the odd idiot that doesn't know how to hold his magic. Injuries won't be grave when they do happen, just incredibly stupid.
If anyone who helped investigate swamps wants to talk to travel agents about potential trips home, this is the chance to do it. Remember that you can also take visitors with you when the time comes around.

[The market became something of a thing to look forward to for Grainne a while ago, and she wanders from stall to stall, picking up foods to stock her room with and contemplating on finally taking up on that spawner set for snacks Jeebs always seemed to have, and maybe a copy of that map. A wider hunting ground for bounties, and with the race coming up she could pre-scout the route...
Chewing on a hot pastry, Grainne looks around at all the people trying out the potion samples. Such a thing would be lost on her personally, but she thoroughly enjoys the entertainment provided.]
2. Candle
[Near the end of market, Grainne's passing by Harry Mudd's stall again, wondering if getting a speeder was really worth the price he asked for, when she spies it. A candle, old fashioned and attractive, and she stops to give it a good looking over.
After living in a world full of artificial lights, she did miss the glow of a flame from time to time.]
How much for this one, Mr. Mudd?

[Hello should work as an introduction, but sometimes he just skips right by it.]
no subject
A little. It does help when one feels that there is a role for them. In many ways it reminds me of my first home.

[She takes a small bite, and then adds;]
And what about you? Are you settled as well?
no subject
[It's sort of a flat admission. The place never feels like home to him. Not quite right.]
But I think it was more important for you to be. I got a job I gotta go back to one day.
no subject
Are you certain that you are not settling a little bit? It is often the home we do not expect to find ourselves in that the best memories are made.
no subject
I don't know why. I didn't ask. [And now he's thinking the MiB is just trying to understand how it's affecting alternate timelines and creating them there.]
I'm pretty sure. No offense. Most of my best memories are attached to my job. Or they're sorta in the background- I can remember them, in a way. When I hear certain voices that make me feel something, or a shape that makes me squint a little harder than usual, makes me want to look closer at it.
[And he has a lot more people back home than he's willing to discuss. Especially Jay.]

The good part is here I get some stuff I can take back to it. The spawners could do wonders for us, so the MiB wouldn't have to interfere at all in Earth's resources. It'd be a great call if we could get the authorization to use the technology through respectable and responsible behavior.
no subject
What is the MiB?
no subject
Those are simpler and they're well understood. The new ones found, they were made by something else.

[She pauses as one of the potion testers ignores a warning about the time limit, and squawks, sputtering after trying to inhale some water.]
I wonder if those potions are anything like the ones I used to make.

[By his feet, Nikolina reaches for that potion, leaning against Wander's body to grab it. She's unsuccessful, but it's makes him lean over and briefly loose his balance, bumping into Grainne.]
Sorry, sorry. [He looks up to meet Grainne's face.] Did I hurt you?
no subject
No, Wander, it would take a great deal to hurt. Are you all right?
no subject
I'm fine, caught my balance thanks to you. [Nikolina meows, trying to reach for the potion again.] Looks like Niko's brave enough to try this here potion, so I'm hopin' it's safe for animals, right?
[He really doesn't want to accidentally poison his adorable kitty. On the other hand, he can't refuse those four shining eyes.]
no subject
I suppose so, if you think you can handle a cat that can jump a league or two...
[It's a small giggle that follows, like Grainne isn't used to laughing very much.]
Did you name her after Niko?
no subject
[Wander pops off the top of the sample he was holding and kneels down to let Nikolina have a taste. She licks at the bit of liquid slowly pouring out of the bottle and wipers her nose with her paw.] She likes it! I'll be keepin' this for a while. [He closes it and pushes it under his hat.]
Yup! Her name's actually Nikolina, since she's a girl, but I like callin' her Niko anyway, since it sounds a lot cuter. [No intended offense to the man Niko.]
no subject
You are right, it does, poor Niko. Are you planning on going some place dangerous?
no subject
...Maybe I should get some of the other potions, too.
no subject
[She's totally serious, that hat looks like it could store a few.]
I wonder if any of the recipes are available.
no subject
Oh, that's right, you can make these sorta potions on your own. [She's a witch, so obviously they all have some skill in that.] What kinds can you already make?
no subject
[It made sense to her, she was already wanting to go try out different colors of hair after Zhu Li's visit.]
I can make many kinds, maybe not exactly like these. Mostly, I learned to make normal medicines and remedies.
no subject
Oh, so you're a doctor where you're from? A witch doctor? Right? [A small pause for Grainne to get the joke.]
no subject
Well, women wise in medicines were often called witches... though I am not sure I would qualify as a doctor.
