As soon as the sun had set Nina Simone's cover of House of the Rising Sun started to blast out of the sound system clear as crystal as the doors were proped open. The club was open to any and all with a simple set of rules by the door the biggest written on fancy text 'The Rule of Haven; All within will be given due respect, violence shall not be premitted inside the doors of the building.' It was one of the few Kindred Laws he still embraced.

Tonights drinks were half priced and the music was pumping everything was set to be fun and full of mischief. Everything in the club was fueled with black lights and made to look classy but fun. Dorian wanted to give the place a retro feel while still not pushing too far back in time. So he had found a compromise. Black lights and modern motif.

The owner himself was sitting at the bar in a red fur coat and black suit. He looked amused out at his club. He was drinking tea from a pretty tea cup just looking amused. Funny how he doesn't drink often but owns a bar.

It's not like Wander never spent an evening in a bar during his travels, but money is hard to come by when you don't have a permanent job, and there are plenty of things that had priority over alcohol. Still, this place had too many drinks with unfamiliar names, and he couldn't risk accidently buying something too strong. He stood in front of the counter trying to decipher the menu for ten minutes until he decided that it would be fine to bother the server and human customers with questions.

The little alien climbed onto the nearest stool, using the structural rods as ladder steps, and rested his hands on the counter, which was high enough that Wander couldn't rest his chin on it, but there was no sense in complaining. The man next to him didn't seem like he was preoccupied with anything.

"Excuse me, sir? Hi, I'm not real familiar with all these drinks here; mind if I ask you for some explainin'?" Never hurts to be polite.

The actual owner of the bar! It was rare to run into the person in charge of a place by chance, and this must have been Wander's lucky day.

"Name's Wander, pleasure to meetcha, Dorian," he tipped his hat up to give Dorian a better view of his face, grinning with the excitement of meeting someone new. He noted the teacup; if this fellow really was the owner, it would make sense that he didn't get too drunk to manage everything. Wander made a mental note that if he couldn't find something safe for him, there was always an alcohol-free option.

"I love what you did with the place! You got a real talent for decoration!" He continued with a sincere tone. "But thanks for offerin' to tell me 'bout the things from Earth, seein' that I never been there m'self."

"There's an upstairs, too?" Wander tried to hid the excitement in his voice. This had to be one of the fanciest bars he's ever been to if the other floors were as nicely decorated as this one!

...He probably should have noticed the multiple floors on his way in, but he was more excited than usual to really pay attention.

Wander took a moment to consider what wine was. "I'm not too sure, but I think I've seen other humans, sorry if my assumption is incorrect, but I do think ya look quite similar to them, drink somethin' called that. That's the one made from fruit, right?" Because despite having so many Earth terms to learn, he swore on his honor as a galactic traveler he would memorize them all. And who else to teach him than from someone whose home planet was Earth?

Wander grinned at the other man's apparent excitement. He must try to make Dorian his friend as soon as possible.

"Wine sounds good!" Spirits made from fruits were kind of sweet, so maybe this "wine" was also sweet? "But...you really don' have to do this all for me. I'll pay for it myself."

One thing was still bothering him. "Say, 'bout not bein' human anymore: I never heard of someone changin' species like that."

He would say magic was involved, but from where he was from, the most that magic (or what he assumed to be magic) wasn't powerful enough to do something like change what you were. Blowing things up and disguising yourself, yes, but extreme reality-warping events were usually linked to the environment, not people, unless you were a cosmic entity with the ability to change the fabric of the universe...

"Did some powerful fella do this to you? Make you all humany but not human?"
