He didn't think about the state of his personal life (or lack thereof) in terms of happy or unhappy. It just was. He viewed singleness as a basic inevitability and so didn't spent much time thinking about alternatives. He might as well ponder what life would be like if he'd been loomed a Prydonian from the House of Lungbarrow instead of a Patrex from the House Zdyllara. His life just didn't happen that way so, he judged, why think about it.
